6 Nursery-Safe Plants

6 Nursery-Safe Plants

Decorating the nursery is one of the most exciting activities expectant parents look forward to from the moment they find out they’ve got a little one on the way. Creating mood boards, picking out the nursery gear, selecting paint colors –with every choice, you’re one step closer to bringing baby home. Finding the perfect décor is the last step before everything you’ve been dreaming about becomes a reality. In addition to the prints, blankets, and trinkets, houseplants can also complete the nursery – just as long as they’re safe for baby. After all, some plants may help to improve air quality in your home and make your indoor environment happier. Here are six baby-safe houseplants for your nursery.

1. Spider Plants

Spider plants aren't jsut nice to look at, they're also air purifiers, easy to care for, and love to hang so they can stay away from tiny, grabby hands.

2. Bird's Nest Fern

With crinkly leaves, the Bird’s Nest Fern is a funky addition to any nursery. They’re easy to care for and don’t mind low light, so they’re perfect to bring some life and color to that back corner away from the window.

3. Prayer Plant

Prayer Plants get their name from the way their leaves fold in at night, like hands in prayer. Non-toxic and easy to care for, a Prayer Plant will look great on the windowsill. Look for the Red Prayer Plant if you want a fun pop of color in your baby’s nursery.

4. Fiddle Leaf Fig

You’ve probably seen the Fiddle Leaf Fig’s expansive leaves in every influencer’s nursery, but this plant looks lovely tucked into the corner of any room. A bit more temperamental to take care of, the Fiddle Leaf Fig prefers warmer, more humid climates but grows quickly when properly looked after.

5. Ponytail Palm

Looking like something from a children’s book, the Ponytail Palm is a quirky addition to any nursery. Used to drier conditions, Ponytail Palms don’t require constant watering – you just leave them near a window and water them sparingly to watch them thrive.

6. Parlor Palm

Bring a taste of the tropical jungle into your nursery with a Parlor Palm. The fun bamboo-like stems can grow up to six-feet tall, so you’re little one can measure their growth next to it over the years.
